The Sri Lanka Police Department issues Police Clearance Certificates for the period/s of your residence in Sri Lanka. You can apply for Police Clearance Certificates directly through the Police Department website police.gov.lk. If you do not wish to do so, you can submit your application through our office.
Direct Online Submission to the Police Department:
Sri Lanka Police Department provides you the option to submit you application yourself, through their website, if you have left Sri Lanka after reaching sixteen (16) years of age. You can use the following link to access the online application:

Applying at our counter: We encourage you to submit your application direct to the Police Department, through the above link. However, if you so wish, you can submit your application at our counter. To submit the application at the counter, you must obtain a prior appointment. You can obtain an appointment on any working day between 9.30am -1.30pm. For public holiday closures please visit here . If you have left Sri Lanka before reaching the age of sixteen (16) years, you must submit your application at our counter.

For the applicants in South Australia: If the application submitted by post, the relevant fee should be sent by Postal Money Order (Australia Post)/ bank draft drawn in favor of the “Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne”. scanned copy of the receipt will be emailed to you once your application is processed.
Your application submitted at our counter will be forwarded to the Police Headquarters in Colombo for issuance of the Certificate. There is no guaranteed duration for issuance of the Certificate.

We will notify you by an email upon receipt of the certificate.
You do not need to obtain a prior appointment for collection of your certificate. You can collect your certificate by visiting the Consulate General between 9.15-9.30 am OR 1.30 -1.45 pm on any working day. Before visiting us, please check our website for any public holiday closures.
If you wish to receive your certificate via registered post, send an email to mail@slcgmel.org with your name, passport/NIC number, application reference number and the postal address. The tracking number will be emailed to you to follow-up.
